The Fenix Palace
STOCKHOLM DESIGN WEEK 2019
The Fenix Palace
During Stockholm Design Week 2019, we creative directed a showcase for Ariake called The Fenix Palace — an exhibition set in a former entertainment palace in central Stockholm. Mixing contemporary Japanese furniture, handpicked artisans and producers and a Swedish interior dating back to 1912, The Fenix Palace was a celebration of good collaborations in an unusual setting.
The building where the exhibition was held is the work of architect Hjalmar Westerlund and originally housed a number of restaurants, a dance hall, a theatre and a bowling alley. Since 1940 it has been owned by the City church, and its premises are rarely open to the public.
The exhibition is a collaboration between Ariake, Origin Made, Wästberg, Nedre Foss and a handpicked selection of designers and producers. Curation by Hanna Nova Beatrice, styling by Annaleena Leino.
